Many Disney adults grew up watching and loving the original movies, so the chance to revisit those beloved characters and stories in a new film is something to look forward to – especially if you can introduce it to your kids, your nieces or nephews (or your pets) We also have some Pixar flicks coming to a big screen near you! Inside Out 2 – June 14, 2024
This was announced at D23 Expo (https://d23.com/events/) Already some details of this upcoming Pixar movie have come through about the plot, including that it will introduce new emotions, including Anxiety (Maya Hawke)
Amy Poehler will return as Joy and Phyllis Smith becoming Sadness . Lewis Black is also back as Anger. Sadly, however, Mindy Kaling (Disgust) and Bill Hader (Fear) will not return.
Mufasa: The Lion King – December 20, 2024
Disney’s Lion King prequel, Mufasa: The Lion King. Mufasa is going to be an orphan and Timon and Pumba will narrate. Barry Jenkins will be directing and it will highlight his history with Scar, and how he became king of the Pride Lands. Mufasa: The Lion King will have a theatrical release rather than stream directly to Disney+.
TOY STORY 5 IN 2026
This will be told by Andy as an adult after he graduates from college. He goes to the carnival where Woody lives to celebrate and see him by chance, as the carnival travels from place to place. As for who the villain will be? It comes down to either Sid, who has become a trollish YouTuber spreading misinformation about the toys being alive, given the trauma he suffered from Woody’s uprising against him and his mistreatment of the toys in his possession, or a Wall Street businessperson seeking to put the carnival out of business, forcing Woody and his new friends to take action and prevent their eviction. THIS SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!!
Frozen 3 in 2026
We just can’t seem to LET IT GO. With the original movie turning 10 just last year, it’s time to bring back some of your favourite characters! The frenzy over the property hasn’t died down. Annecy Film Festival 2023 saw Lee talk about the film. Luckily, she’s advising and working on Frozen III as it continues production.
“I can’t say where we are [with Frozen 3],” Lee explained. “All our stories are driven by the artists in the studio. Where we’re going with Frozen did not come from me. It came from an incredible person. That’s a new piece, I’ve told no one. And I’ve been blown away by it and I’m just having a blast with that team.”
ELIO – June 13, 2025
The next upcoming Pixar movie after Elemental is ELIO! Elio will be voiced by Yonas Kibreab, and America Ferrera will play his mother, Olga. Adrian Molina, who previously worked with Pixar on Coco and The Good Dinosaur, is the director. SYNOPSIS: Elio finds himself in space among aliens and cosmic beings — all of whom find his human form, which is alien to them, fascinating. They also believe the young boy is Earth’s official ambassador, which promises many comedic misunderstandings as well as trademark Pixar emotional moments. Grab your kleenex!!
Snow White – March 20, 2025
Another classic story redone! This one will be a live-action remake of Snow White. Rachel Zegler is starring as Snow White, with Gal Gadot portraying the wicked Queen. It will have revamped versions of the same classic musical numbers. Marc Webb is directing, and Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson penned the live-action Snow White script. We love GRETA!!!!
Moana – June 27, 2025
We found out back in the spring of 2023, it was confirmed that Disney was remaking Moana as a live-action adaptation with Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia as the prodcer. Johnson will also return as demi-God Maui, though Auli’i Cravalho will return as Moana, but will also be executive producer, with Thomas Kail directing. This WILL be in theatres! HOW FAR WILL YOU GO TO WATCH IT?

The 2016 first movie grossed more than $1 billion and won the Oscar for Best Animated Film. So of course they have to bring back these incredible characters!!
