”I’ve got a bad feeling about this”
That was the general consensus at Disney HQ three years ago after the lukewarm reception of Solo: A Star Wars Story. For awhile it looked like any further spinoffs would be in jeopardy.
Fast forward to 2022- thanks to the success of ‘The Mandalorian’, both the Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoffs have been revived. Ewan McGregor will reprise the role he first portrayed over twenty years ago. McGregor, whose age puts him roughly in the middle between his age in Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Alec Guinness’ age in the original Star Wars movie makes the timing perfect for him to reprise the role.
Following weeks of rumors, we can now expect the Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff on Disney+ in May 2022.
